David Barrett was born in Brooklyn, New York. His musical influences started with his mother who always had an interest in all things Irish, including the music. Other important musical influences have been Iain MacHarg, Donald F. Lindsay, Iron Maiden and Deirdre Cunningham. He was the founder and first Pipe Major of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (OFO) Pipes and Drums. While he has played with multiple bands, his most joyous time playing bagpipes has been with Catamount Pipe Band during their trips to compete in Scotland; his most rewarding times playing have been to honor heroes that have made the ultimate sacrifice for their fellow man.
